WhatsApp users can be sure of the safety of their private data as WhatsApp provides end-to-end encryption for all personal messages that are sent and received to ensure that only the user and his partner can tread or listen to them.
With the new end-to-end encrypted backup, users can also add that same layer of protection to their iCloud and Google Drive backups.
To activate end-to-end encrypted backup
1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Chats > Chat Backup > End-to-end Encrypted Backup.

3. Tap Continue, then follow the prompts to create a password or key.
4. Tap Done, and wait for WhatsApp to prepare your end-to-end encrypted backup. You might need to connect to a power source.
Note: You won’t be able to restore your backup if you lose your WhatsApp chats and forget your password or key. WhatsApp can’t reset your password or restore your backup for you.
To deactivate end-to-end encrypted backup
1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Chats > Chat Backup > End-to-end Encrypted Backup.
3. Tap Turn Off.
4 Enter your password.
Confirm you want to turn off encrypted backup by tapping Turn Off.
